Health Tip

Hot flashes during menopause can make both your days and nights miserable. To ease some of the discomfort, drink cool fluids, limit caffeine, alcohol, hot drinks, and spicy foods. Choose natural-fiber clothes and wear them loosely.

Making the diagnosis
  • What your physical exam may tell you
The doctor may suspect osteomyelitis based on symptoms and a physical exam. A normal X-ray may not show anything until three weeks after the first symptoms appear.
  • Fractured a bone?
Osteoporosis should be suspected in any individual who has a fracture. X-rays will usually confirm a fracture if there is one.
  • Diagnosing Ankylosing Spondylitis
Your doctor will make the diagnosis of AS based on your symptoms and an X-ray or another type of imaging of your affected joints.
